 NAOMI HUGHES

I am a freelance visual merchandiser with a passion for creating unique handmade fashion accessorises from vintage textiles. I have been designing & making things for as long as I can remember, having grown up in a very creative household! My latest creations (vintage textile heart brooches £7) were born out of a love for all things vintage and a desire to recycle antique finds.

 What do you love about your job?

I sort of fell into visual merchandising after uni , but in retrospect I think it must have been in my blood! My great uncle designed windows for Selfridges for 15 years.

I'd have to say, the thing that i love about my job is the creative freedom it gives me and being my own boss. Plus it's very satisfying when I see somebody stop in their tracks because my window display has caught their eye !

What 5 things could you not live without?

My phone - I'm addicted to texting

My plants, I love pottering about in the garden & watching things grow, it's very therapeutic.

Photos of family & friends

My car- I love being able to just get up and go and the feeling of freedom it gives me.

Magazines - Vogue, Elle Deco, Living Etc, Grazia - are always inspirational .

Describe your personal style?

For work I try to look sophisticated in a classic but modern way , I love to wear geometric print dresses & skinny jeans.

For evenings out I love 70's glam, flares (or skinny jeans), platforms, gold jewellery & big hair ! 

Studio 54 meets Charlie's Angels..... it's sexy without being too revealing.

 What are your favourite places to shop?

On the High street.... H&M , Urban Outfitters, Gap & Topshop. I also find lots of clothes in charity shops, car boot sales  & antiques markets and I love finding new and interesting things on trips abroad.

 What is your recent purchase?

My grey suede platforms ankle boots from office, they're so glam rock !!
