Pilates
Session 1:
Last week I started my first session in Pilates training, My aim to be able to teach Mat work Pilates in a years time. So as I'm under going my training I thought I would share with you my journey & development.
I am training at a fabulous place in Castle Cary called The Scott Studio which is run by Suzanne scott. The day starts at10am, so after dropping the kids off at school for 9am I zoom off on my 40min drive to my course.I found I quite liked the drive to calm myself from the morning rush and focus my mind ready for learning. The course finishes at 6pm.
My first session went well and I meet some great ladies who will be on the same journey as me for the next year as we learn .
We focused on our breathing technique, which you think is easy but a lot of us don't breath dip in to our ribs. Filling them with air, pushing the ribs out to the sides. You find a lot of people only breath in to their upper chest not taking the breath down to where it needs to be.
Posture type was next to identify what type people were. Sway posture , Anterior type, flat back ...and then followed by moves to teach for helping people to breath properly and finding their neutral pelvis. By the end of the day I was overwhelmed by all the new information I had learnt but it felt good.Lots of revision and homework to do till my next session.
My aim is to offer this service to my existing clients, private lessons. I also want to move in to the area of teaching children from 5 onwards to understand their bodies and posture. Helping them from an early age, So they don't start to form habit patterns to create problems for the future. It might benefit girls when they reach puberty.Helping them in that tricky transitional period from girl to woman & the boys with their concentration and energy to help focus it and build their core strengths. Lots to learn yet but very excited. Have already practised some of my moves I've learnt on my mum and beloved. And yesterday I showed my children some moves and they loved it, eager to learn more .
Will take some pictures of the studio next time !
